I'm Starting a YouTube Channel!

Hello!  I’m a long time viewer, first time youtube channel and I’m hoping you’ll help me out.  I’m asking for all my friends and their friends to hit subscribe to my new baby YouTube Channel in order to help me reach 1,000 subscribers.  Once I hit 1,000 subscribers I’ll release all my video patterns for FREE on my channel for anyone to watch!

GETTING STARTED

I learned to crochet in the mid 90s and how to knit in 1999 or 2000.  I’ve been teaching knit and crochet to everyone who wants to learn since 2002 or 03 and professionally since 2009 or 10.  For 5 years now, my students have been asking me if I have a youtube channel that they can reference when they are home, after class, and it’s just something that I kept putting off because kids and getting my products in stores was taking a lot of my “down” time.

But this year both my kids are in school for the first time and I’m hustling all of my 2 hours of child-free time to get these video patterns published for you. Some of them I shot over a year ago that still haven’t seen the light of day! So if they look a little rough to you, please be kind.  Everything I’ve ever heard about “How to Start a YouTube Channel, blog, newsletter, etc” has been to Just Start and learn to improve along the way. So this is my “Just Start” moment.

SUBSCRIBE

I hope you’ll hit subscribe and come along for this adventure.  I promise to share everything I’ve learned so far about knitting and crocheting as well as how I personally approach designing patterns.

Fun fact - I didn’t learn to read a pattern until 15 years AFTER learning how to crochet! All the abbreviations were so intimidating until I was a young adult trying to figure out how to make a brimmed hat.  Spoiler Alert - it was straight-forward and easy once I set my mind to it.

Even better? I’ll be doing a whole video on everything I did to learn how to read a pattern and how to decode all the mysterious abbreviations and grid patterns.

CHANNEL THEMES

So far I have a handful of themes planned for the Knittedhome channel on Youtube and just reading them gets me so excited to work on them and get them published as quick as possible so they can help you. If you see something I’m missing, I hope you’ll let me know in the comments below so I can answer it for you and anyone else that decided not to ask.

  • Video Patterns with walk-through tutorials

  • Tips & Technique Videos

  • Review Tools, Yarn and other supplies, and any interesting facts I pick up while I’m learning and researching the history of knitting.

  • Listing Previews to show how to wear or style an accessory piece or how to style a piece of home decor in your own home. I’d also love to do a “how its made” series so customers can get a feel for how much time does actually go into each finished project.

  • Vlogs of my market prep set up, day of the event, and as we’re tearing down to give you a full feeling for the day of a pop-up market.

I have a lot planned for this channel, but most of it is in random notebooks around our house….

Thanks for checking me out and I hope to see you around or in the comments section :)

Do you have any requests for video topics or recommendations that I should do? Or a channel I should watch as I continue to work on improving my channel?

I'd love to hear all about your suggestions in the comments below!  Be sure to click "subscribe via email" to receive comment reply notifications.  I look forward to seeing you on the next post!
