Merchants Landing Arts & Craft Show

I'm so excited that I have another show on the calendar!

These ladies participated with me at the Make It Indie fair back in November and reached out to me to join them in their first annual show this April.  I have to say I was definitely honored that they reached out to me and were patient as I searched my mind for an answer.  Of course I wanted to scream yes right away, but knowing that the show weekend (April 12 & 13) is the weekend after my due date, I had to consider newborn care first.  After talking with my midwife, husband (who was supportively pushing me in this direction), and a few other friends with kids, I decided to go with the "ambitious" decision to commit.  And now I'm so excited & ecstatic that I did!

So if everyone will just send positive, slightly early-labor thoughts my way, I'd really appreciate it! hehe.  :)

Flower Weekend at the Market

Being a big fan of Homestead Soaps , I was approached by Lori to make a few soap savers to offer her customers and I jumped at the opportunity.  She has such a wealth of knowledge, I am incredibly honored to get to work with her and hopefully learn a thing or two about selling in person (vs. online).

Fast forward three weeks to Memorial Weekend, it is Flower Weekend at the Downtown Toledo Farmer's Market.  I joined Lori at her table Saturday and sold seven soap savers on the first day!  Sunday, nothing sold (I wonder if it was a completely different clientele?) and Monday three more sold (yay!).

This Thursday she also sells at the Perrysburg Market so we'll see how they do with a different group of people.  Any suggestions?

Next, I need to get a few listed online.  I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend :)

The Adirondacks

Labor day weekend my husband and I traveled with another couple to New York for some hiking.

We stayed overnight in Akron & had dinner with my husband's best man and his girlfriend.  Then we continued our drive to meet up with our hiking friends.

I worked with some new yarn on the drive. It came from one 0f the boxes Dan's grandmother won at a "Chinese Auction."

We hiked Mt Marcy the first day.  It was my first mountain!

First Trail marker.

View from the Summit.

But us girls were too sore & stiff to do any more hiking the next day, so we dropped the boys off to hike the Gothics and we hung around the cabin, recuperating.

Before we left, I sold one earwarmer right off my needles to the co-owner of our accommodations, Mountain Brook Lodge!

Then he asked about a hat for himself, which I gladly made as a compliment to his wife's earwarmer.  (see the matching yarn in his stripes?)

They were probably the best hosts I have ever stayed with [commercially].  They held bonfires every night in the courtyard to get to know their guests & really created a sense of community.  We felt like we were staying in a friend's home!  (ex. I forgot to bring milk for my coffee so Al brought me a glad of milk to keep in our fridge!)

All four of us can't wait to return. :)

Custom Cable Red Hat

I love little surprises in my inbox.  Especially when they lead to a sale!  I received a convo on etsy, last Thursday, asking if I could make this cable hat in red.

I originally had a mitten started for this knit along but the yarn & the pattern weren’t lining up the way I would have liked so I ripped it out and started the red hat.

I was surprised, even for me, with all the ripping out, backtracking, and fixing on Friday & Saturday that I finished it in less than two days – Saturday evening while babysitting!  So I emailed, listed it and had it all squared up to go in the mail Monday morning.  Great weekend! :]

*Don't forget, this is your last week to enter the Ear Warmer Giveaway.

What do You Think?

No new photos today, unfortunately.  I was hoping to list a few more items in the shop today but was called into work last minute and I still have a full day ahead of me.  So hopefully tonight or tomorrow morning (which is scheduled to be another Etsy morning).  Be sure to check back soon!

Question - should I do a sale (like a 3-day 20% off anything in the shop thus far), or should I do a giveaway (and if so, what should I give away?)  I look forward to your input! :)
